New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Graduate Academics & Engagement Specialist reporting directly to the Assistant Director, Graduate & Postdoctoral Affairs.
With a growing population of graduate students at NYUAD, this position will support the design and execution of processes primarily related to graduate student recruitment, including marketing, admissions, university employment, and integration on campus. The post holder will liaise with academic departments, administrative units, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth graduate student on-boarding experience, through the full recruitment and campus integration cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Market graduate programs to prospective applicants, and execute strategies to strengthen the applicant pool. Manage program websites; develop print advertising materials; engage with prospects via email, phone, and in person. Work with faculty, deans, and other leadership to identify appropriate target audiences and cultivate relationships with key networks. May represent NYUAD at recruitment events
Coordinate admissions and fellowship selection processes, to ensure a smooth intake and review of applications. Work with NYUNY (where needed) for application access, admissions procedures, and student enrollment and financial processes. Coordinate with NYUAD faculty regarding applicant nominations. Maintains accurate records of applicants in the pipeline
Facilitate hiring of graduate student employees. Prepare hiring forms; initiate security clearances; proof offers; communicate regularly with Academic HR, program heads, and faculty supervisors regarding the hiring process. Coordinate with HR, Benefits, Payroll, IT, and NYUNY stakeholders to troubleshoot onboarding issues
Plan and execute prospective/new student event programming. Act as the main point-person for arranging major recruitment and welcome events, with an emphasis on Graduate Candidate Weekend (early March) and Global PhD Student Orientation (mid/late July)
Manage visiting graduate student applications and onboarding. Distribute and collect visiting student applications; maintain accurate records; coordinate with divisions, faculty, and other stakeholders to onboard such students. Submit student visa, ID card, and health insurance requests. Coordinate with the Graduate Life & Residence Manager for allocating apartments and billing. Orient visiting students to campus resources and offers guidance for integrating with the NYUAD research community
Triage applicant and new student questions/concerns. Act as the face of the Graduate Office in responding to students’ admissions, fellowship selection, and employment concerns. Troubleshoot such issues independently under general supervision, escalating where needed

Education Requirements
Master’s degree in higher education administration, marketing, or any academic discipline
Experience Requirements
Essential
Minimum 3 years working in a leading university setting
Familiarity with graduate admissions, program marketing, and/or academic event planning
Desirable
Experience working with graduate students or graduate programs
Experience working with diverse, international constituencies
